TRANSITIONAL HOUSING

Chrysalis to Wings' primary focus is on providing transitional housing and services necessary to move clients from homelessness to a level of self-sufficiency that will allow them to achieve independence. Services are currently limited to single women, women with children, and legally married couples, with the expansion of services to the remaining groups as finances and facilities permit.

The immediate need for homeless women with children is shelter. The facility design features individual private bedrooms and baths for each family unit, with access to common areas for cooking and leisure time.

Often, clients arrive with few or no personal possessions. Therefore, a selection of age and size-appropriate clothing are maintained on the grounds, along with other essentials such as toiletries. The food pantry is stocked to allow each family to prepare their own meals.

Counseling is often an immediate need and is available through a partner agency. For clients lacking marketable business skills, training and education with interview skills and resume preparation are available. Outsourced childcare during counseling, training, and employment are provided, as well as any necessary transportation support.

The normal length of transformation from arrival to independent living is approximately six months but may vary according to individual circumstances.
